Post Secondary Planning
Strategic Plan:
A future for every student – A post-secondary plan
for every student in a culture of high expectations: We want to stress
the importance of every student having a postsecondary plan following
graduation. That plan may include admission to a four-year college or
university, community college, military, apprenticeships, career
training or other educational experiences. Recommendations will
include expanded college, career and financial aid information for
students and parents and graduation portfolios.
Goal:
Every
student in the GUHSD will graduate with an Individual Graduation Plan
(IGP) and a personalized Post-Secondary Plan (PSP) in place for their
next level of education or vocational entrance point. Students will
refine their plans each year utilizing a webbased career educational
tool (COIN3) in conjunction with their guidance counselor, school staff, and parent/guardian.
Systemic Change for GUHSD:
1. Students will receive the same services in regards to their IGP and PSP district wide. 2.
Students will continually reflect upon and refine their IGP and PSP
each year in conjunction with their parent/guardian, school staff, and
the community. 3. Teachers will continue to build relevance for the
IGP and PSP by intertwining standards-based lessons with real world
applications. 4. The GUHSD will collect longitudinal post-secondary data in order to evaluate the initiative’s effectiveness.
